IOS Orientation Change

I recently had to find and use the orientation on an IOS project so i used [[UIDevice currentDevice] orientation]. This worked most of the time but I noticed there were times that it did not detect the orientation correctly.

Sometimes it would return zero when the actual device was in landscape. After some searches and a few tests I found out that it only happened when the app was started in landscape mode and never rotated before the orientation was read.

So, it would seem that until the first rotation that orientation will always be zero. From the tests I found that using [UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarOrientation is much more accurate.

Use

[UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarOrientation

to find the orienation of an IOS device.

John Boker: it usually occurs a few, 3-4 times a week and the problem has existed for about 2 months

John Boker: there are a few other people on forums that had suggestions and i've tried the suggestions, nothing has helped

John Boker: no, the screen that shows what is using the battery most has nothing intersting on it, mostly phone idle

John Boker: It usually gets charged overnight, im not sure on the exact amount of time until the battery is at 10%

Asp.Net MVC Calendar Helper

What it looks like

Recently while working on a project with Asp.Net MVC 3 there was a need for a small calendar similar to the asp.net calendar control. After some searching I decided that the easiest method to get this done would be to write a Html Helper. Below is the code that seems to work nicely. This works even if the browser does not support javascript. For added functionality you could add an extra parameter to show highlighted dates or extend it to fill a page and add content to the cells.

Lights Out v2

I've upgraded my Lights Out game to include preferences for the grid size. Now you can select anywhere from 3x3 to 8x8.

In addition to the new preferences I cleaned up the code a lot and changed the color of the lights.

Following the simple steps on the Chromium OS Developer Guide I built a Chromium image and installed it in VMware Player in Ubuntu.

My initial thoughts on this was it was easy to do but it runs really slowly in VMware Player. Maybe it would run faster on real hardware, that's the next thing to try. Below are a few screenshots of Chromium in action.

Microsoft Partner(s) website

Issues with the microsoft partner(s) website.

1. The first problem is the "View Your Membership Account" is broken as shown in the picture below.

2. The Menus are different, the one in IE has some styling and the Firefox one has none. Also, the (+) and (-) on the menu items do not work in Firefox, clicking them just reloads the page.

Adobe Launches Production Version of Flash for Android

Apple's iPhone 4 may be shipping this week, but Android fans have a reason to celebrate, too. Adobe today announced that it has released the final version of Flash Player 10.1 for Google's mobile operating system.

The app will be available for download via the Android Market for those users who have Android 2.2 (Froyo) installed on their phones--devices expected to offer the Android update include the Dell Streak, Google Nexus One, HTC Evo, HTC Desire, HTC Incredible, Droid by Motorola, Motorola Milestone, and Samsung Galaxy S. No official word on when that will happen, however...

Adobe has already made a test version of Flash 10.1 available to the public. That app quickly became one of the most downloaded free apps in the Android Market, in spite of not having been rolled out to a majority of Android users.

Now how long will it be before the iPhone's and iPod Touches get flash?

Tonight Bosley was at the park playing with some other dogs, tugging at some toys they were playing with when another dog decided to bite his ear (I'll call that dog Tyson)! He bled everywhere so we got some stuff to put on it so it'd stop and heal.

Today Microsoft Security Essentials did it's job. This is the first time that my antivirus software has ever caught anything before wreaking havoc on my computer.

Microsoft has more information on the specific piece of malware, it could have been bad.
